Spock, science officer of the Starship Enterprise, permitted himself a small sigh of irritation. He had worked alongside with humans for years, and he’d grown accustomed to their illogical tendencies and their occasional bursts of emotion, even though some things did annoy him from time to time.
However, it seemed that this one human who’d mysteriously appeared, as if out of nowhere, was truly trying his patience to the extreme. He had no idea where she came from or how she got there, but that seemed to be the case with everyone lately. He had attempted to correct her on pronouncing his name at least five times, but quickly abandoned the effort.
There were more important things to focus on. And this young woman, well… he had to make sure she got out of the building safely, but he was so close to accomplishing his mission objective that he HAD to complete it. If she did not disrupt anything or get on his nerves more than she already had, that is.
"You are a hawt man!!!!" the woman yelled, excitedly giggling as she stood beside Spock. "I'm Reni...and your ears look weird!!!"
Spock closed his eyes briefly, then opened them. A small part of him wondered if she was even saying her own name right, since she hadn’t gotten his name right ever since he’d first introduced himself. He pushed the thought aside and ignored it. “Reni,” he said evenly, “you must keep your voice down. We are in a dangerous place and we do not need to draw attention to ourselves.”
"Aww but Spooky everybody loves me...I'm the most popular girl ever! All the hawt men love me to death...there is not a hawt man in the universe that won't be with me! I am all of the hawt men's soul mates, and I am sure Daddy will rescue me if anyone tries to make me go to sleep forever..." Erin said, moving around slightly in excitement, causing her wallet to fall out...with the name "Erin" engraved on it.
Spock ignored her rambling as he took note of the item that fell on the floor. He picked it up, glanced at it briefly, then handed it back to her. “You dropped this… Erin,” he stated dryly, raising an eyebrow. So apparently she had been saying her own name wrong after all. This was probably a fine example of what his mother might refer to as a “blond bimbo”. Although he would not say that aloud.
"Thank you, Spooky! I can't lose all my money...then I can't shop for fantabulous clothes that will make all the hawt men like you stay with me!" Erin exclaimed happily, taking it and clapping. "But Spooky...I have a few other husbands, too, so you'll have to learn to share me! I'm not sure what that means, but Daddy told me it’s like when I had to share my toys with Sesame."
Spock blinked. There had been cases where a few humans—or even non-humans—attempted to make a “pass” at him. But this woman seemed to be under the impression that he was interested in her just because she found him good-looking.
“Excuse me,” he stated, deadpan, “there is work to be done. Either stay here, out of sight, or follow behind me. But please do not speak, and do not get in the way.”
Erin blinked, wondering what he meant. "Oooh...are you like my Mommy?! You have to do Dog's work all the time?!" she asked. "Because you shouldn't...my mommy does and she never got a hawt man!"
Spock made no comment. He simply kept his expression even and kept on walking. He only had a little further to go to reach his destination; the central computer should be in a room just up ahead, if his figures were correct. He just hoped this woman wouldn’t get in his way once he reached it.
Erin followed him intently, glancing around at all the interesting and odd things around her...even if, to some, they may not actually be that interesting. She continued to look at Spock's ears. "Spooky...why are your ears like that?" she asked once again.
“I am a Vulcan,” he said simply. They were now nearing the end of the corridor, approaching a door.
"Ooooh so you are a bird?!" Erin asked in amazement, still right on his tail as they approached the door.
Spock had no idea what made her come to that conclusion… or what she meant exactly. But he wasn’t about to ask. He simply walked up to the door and opened it, stepping inside.
Sure enough this was the correct room. There was computer equipment all throughout the room, almost floor to ceiling and wall-to-wall. He glanced around, then took out his science tricorder to take some readings.
Erin ran over to the large computer equipment and immediately started pressing all the buttons she could find. "OOOOH what does this stuff do?!?!!" she shouted excitedly.
Spock nearly dropped his tricorder as he rushed over and grabbed her shoulders, pulling her away forcefully. “Do not touch anything!” he snapped, his patience and Vulcan reserve finally breaking just a little. He took a deep breath to compose himself, although he did not loosen his grip on her.
"Aww Spooky I am just playing with this shiny stuff! The last time I did that, I made everything dance!!!" Erin shouted to him, trying to dance even in his tight grip.
Spock shook her just a little, only enough to try and get her attention. “Erin, just stand right here in this spot, do not move, do not touch anything, and do not say anything.” He maintained his grip. He wasn’t going to let her go until he was sure she would cooperate.
"Oooh you want to play the quiet game?! Daddy used to tell me to play that all the time! Okay!!!" Erin exclaimed happily, immediately silencing herself afterwards.
Spock hesitated, then very slowly let her go. If this didn’t work he might have to nerve-pinch her and carry her out. He preferred not to do that, but he would if he needed to. He looked at her a moment longer, then slowly made his way to one of the computer consoles, looking down at his tricorder again. He also tried to keep watch on Erin out of the corner of his eye.
Thankfully, Erin hadn’t done anything to set off any alarms… yet. And hopefully he would able to scan the computer’s databanks to download its contents. Once that was done, they could leave this place and get back to the Enterprise where the data could be analyzed on the ship’s computer.
Erin stood very silently, though it was extremely difficult for her to do that...but for a "hawt man" she should try. Erin wondered if she should try "thinking" like some people do...but her head felt so empty! She needed to talk to this hawt man instead!
"Okay this is boring, I'm done playing the quiet game!" Erin suddenly announced.
Spock glanced at her. He was having some difficulty recalibrating the tricorder to be compatible with the computer systems, and a distraction was not something he needed. “Just stay where you are,” he ordered. So long as she didn’t touch anything or run off, he could tolerate her babbling.
Erin frowned. This was getting quite boring. She continued to think about Spock being a bird. "Spooky...if you're a bird...did the stoop bring you??" she asked curiously.
“No.” The Vulcan made a few adjustments on his tricorder, then felt a twinge of satisfaction as it connected with the Decepticon systems. “And I am not a bird,” he added, then frowned when he came across yet another complication. The systems were encrypted. He would have to try and decrypt the protective coding before he could gain access to the system to download the information.
Spock was getting boring, to Erin. Of course she still considered him one of her soul mates and wanted to bring him home, but she needed some more exciting "hawt men" right now. Erin walked over to the wall and began banging on it. "ANYMORE HAWT MEN AROUND HERE?!?!?! RENI THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN EVAR WANTS SOME MORE HAWT MEN!!!" she screamed.
“Erin!” Spock snapped, putting the tricorder atop the console and then moving toward Erin. “You need to stop that and be quiet!” He grabbed her arms, trying to get her under control. He was just THAT close from simply gripping her neck and nerve-pinching her.
Just then he heard the sound of footsteps, and none other than Lieutenant Peter Walters dashed into the room. “Commander Spock!” he exclaimed. He then blinked when he saw the blond, slim-figured girl that Spock was holding. “Who is that? What’s going on here?”
"Another hawt man! See, Spooky, I knew they'd come!" Erin yelled in pure joy as she looked at this man. "I am Reni...your soul mate!"
Peter flinched and closed the door. He knew as well as Spock did that they didn’t need to attract attention to themselves.
Spock had had enough by this point. She was disrupting the mission too much, she refused to do what she was told, and she was only going to continue to cause trouble. He put one hand over Erin’s mouth, then moved his other hand to apply the neck-pinch.
“Wait,” Peter said, before Spock could apply the nerve-pinch. “Who is she? Where the hell did she come from?”
Spock sighed, keeping his hand over her mouth and held her by the shoulder. “Her name is Erin and I do not know where she came from. All I know is that she isn’t working with the Decepticons, and she is disrupting this mission.”
“Let me try to talk to her,” Peter said with a shrug. “Maybe I can figure out where she came from. I think I can keep her quiet,” he added quickly.
After Spock removed the hand from her mouth, Erin grinned at them both. "Aww hawt men, don't fight over me...there is enough of me for every hawt men!!!"
Peter grabbed her by the arm and lead her over near the door. Spock looked at them to make sure the lieutenant did have her under control, then went right back to what he was doing.
In the meantime, Peter looked over the woman. She was definitely a pretty sight to look at, with a perfect hour-glass figure, a slinky red dress, high heels, and perfect blond hair and blue eyes. Peter found himself gawking at her for a moment, then shook himself to snap out of it. Maybe later he could try and get to know her better, but right now there were more important matters to attend to.
“Okay listen to me, Erin honey,” he said slowly, trying to keep his voice down. He hoped that by staying quiet, she might stay quiet too. Plus he didn’t want to attract attention from the Decepticons… if Erin’s previous yelling hadn’t done that already. “Where are you from? How did you get here?” People seemed to be popping up from all over time and space right now, mysteriously, so he wasn’t going to rule out ANY possibility.
"I don't know...I just randomly popped up here and saw that hawt man Spooky! I am from a big city with lots of people!" Erin happily replied to Peter. In truth, she had no clue what happened, but she didn't care.
Peter nodded slowly. That was the very same thing that happened with the Enterprise, as well as a lot of the Autobots… and those two men from the German prisoner camp of 1942. At this point he wouldn’t be surprised how many more random people popped up, from who-knew-where.
“Okay I just need to know one thing,” he said softly. He cast a quick glance at Spock; the Vulcan was still busy at the computer. Peter then turned his attention back to the woman. “Where exactly are you from? What is the name of it? What year is it where you are from?” He needed to know whether she was from the past or the future.
Erin thought for a moment. "I am from the town of...er, I'm from this big state! One of the towns in it is where all the big movie stars live, and my city isn't far from there!!! And the year is...1020!!!!!" she exclaimed.
Peter raised his eyebrows. Frankly this woman wasn’t making much sense. “Did you say… 1020?” Somehow he doubted that.
Erin nodded. "Yes...1020!!! The newest year...we have all kinds of shiny stuff and everything!! And a lot of money!!!"
“Uh, okay,” Peter murmured, his brows furrowing in puzzlement. Frankly this was worse than talking to his five-year-old niece. “Okay listen to me, maybe you can tell me more about your home, where you’re from. Are you from Earth, or another planet?”
"The first one!" Erin exclaimed, not being able to pronounce "Earth".
“Okay, you’re from Earth,” Peter nodded, satisfied that they had established that much at least. “Do you have a job?” he asked, in an attempt to narrow it down a little more. “What do you do most of the time?”
In the meantime, Spock had finally broken through the encryption and had begun to download the information into the tricorder’s databanks. He double-checked to make certain the device was operating at peak efficacy, then set it down and proceeded to let it do its job. It would take several minutes; all he would need to do was keep an eye on it and remove it once it was finished.
Erin laughed. "I don't have a job, my Daddy is rich!!!! And I go shopping and look for hawt men!" she replied.
Well, THAT was a big help. Peter sighed. “Erin… just tell me one thing,” he then said, making one final attempt to communicate effectively with her. “The place where you live… are there only humans—people that look like you and me—or are there non-humans too? People who look different?” If he could get that answer, maybe he could figure out if she was from the past or the future.
"Ummmm..." Erin said, not fully understanding the question. "Everyone looks the same to me."
“Does anyone look like him?” Peter tried again, pointing toward Spock. “Or… does anyone have different colored skin, or big foreheads or four eyes or anything?”
Erin shook her head. "No, I've never seen a bird like THAT before...and people have different colored skin! My mommy has ALOT different color than me!!!" she told him.
“Okay, tell me about your mother,” Peter requested, grasping at straws now. Frankly this woman was quite difficult to deal with.
He cast another quick glance toward Spock. The science officer was still standing at the console, although he was looking in their direction from time to time. Peter knew that the Vulcan was listening now, as well as keeping an eye on his tricorder. Obviously, he’d chosen not to make any comments, though.
"Well I didn't always know she was my mommy...but she likes to slap people and carries around this book with weird words, and she talks about some guy called Dog a lot...she and my Daddy don't like each other very much..." Erin said, explaining her mother to him. "She's like a black crayon, and I'm like a white crayon!"
“Um…” Peter closed his mouth, unsure what to say. It seemed like every time she opened her mouth, he just got more confused. And he wasn’t sure what kind of questions to ask to try and get something more useful out of her. In spite of himself he looked toward Spock, almost pleadingly.
The Vulcan simply shrugged a little.
"Oooh your mouth looks pretty....give your sweet momma some sugar!!!" Erin shouted, suddenly yanking Peter into a large smooch.
Peter practically yelped as she pulled him against herself, pressing her lips against his. Yet overall… he didn’t fight TOO much.
Spock’s eyebrows shot upward and nearly vanished under his bangs. A slight beeping noise then caught his attention and he turned back to his tricorder. The little screen on the device announced that it was finished, so he picked it up and shut it off.
He then walked up behind the two humans, clearing his throat. “Time to go,” he stated.
"Ooooh where are we going?!" Erin asked curiously.
Now that his mouth was free again, Peter panted softly. He then glanced at Spock and promptly blushed, glancing away.
“We are going to the Enterprise,” the Vulcan informed her.
